SherriWittler 1 Posted April 6, 2006 I start my 10 day pre-op diet tomorrow ....... wish me luck. I have stocked up on broth, flavored water and other no sugar drinks, sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello. I am also allowed 1/2 cup cottage cheese or sugar free yogurt 3 times a day. I'm stopping by Sonic and buying a couple bags of their crushed ice to munch on. I can do this .... I can do this ......... I WILL DO THIS!! I have to go back to Topeka next Wednesday for pre-op testing and to visit w/ the doctor. Oh, and to also pay in advance for the surgery and all the costs related to it. They require pre-payment of people whose insurance does not pay for the surgery. That DOES make sense!! I have also lost another 5 pounds. So that makes 30 pounds since the end of October. xo, Sherri "I shall shape my future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. one too many 1 Posted April 7, 2006 Yes you can do this, you will do this as if you can't do it now they might stop you from having your op.Iam sure you don't want that to happen.Good luck it will all be worth it in the end.Keep remembering that you have done far harder things in life than this.Iam sure pre payment is to make sure they have their money as the don't do these things for nothing he he he.Wish they did. cookinjillie 0 Posted April 7, 2006 Good Luck, You are a inpiration to me as I will be having my surgery on May 25 and I will follow your progress. I'm anxious and nervous all at the same time. I am terrified of another failure. I will be thinking of you. Cookinjillie
waterlily1072 5 Posted April 9, 2006 I am still in my pre-surgery diet. My doc just said 800 calories a day for 2 weeks for me. It has been truly painful. I keep telling myself that when my stomach growls I am burning fat and after the surgery and a fill or two I need never feel hunger like this again and still lose! You can do it, I know you can. Just take it one day at a time Molly
cookinjillie 0 Posted April 9, 2006 Hi waterlily When did you have your surgery? When you say painful are you referring to hunger pains or physical pains? What are you eating? Where did you have your surgery done? The diet procedure for me is 1 week prior to surgery only yogury, cottage cheese and Water. 2 weeks after is clear fluids only, and 2 weeks after that is full fluids only. is that the same for most? I will support you and hopefully things get much easier Good luck and hang in there
waterlily1072 5 Posted April 9, 2006 My surgery is in 2 days and just hunger pains Because of my BMI my doc wanted to make sure I lost a good 10 lbs if possible before surgery so he said for me 2 weeks. After surgery he said liquids 2 weeks then soft food 2 weeks, then start incorporating real food. We will see how that goes :guess
Flashover 0 Posted April 10, 2006 I have my surgery tomorrow, (4/10/06). I see you are the day after me. I hope you do well. I will check in with you when you get back from surgery and we can compare notes. Good luck!

*susan* 1,709 Posted April 10, 2006 I started my pre-op liquid diet today. My surgery isn't until the 28th of this month, but my doctor wanted me on the pre-op diet for 3 weeks. I think this is going to be the toughest part of this. But, we can all do it. I keep reminding myself the reward will be my band and it is so worth it. My doctor said I need to do this to make sure my liver is healthy enough for the surgery. He said if he goes in and it isn't, then I will have paid $16,500.00 for him to just go in and have a look around. I am private pay and I sure don't want that, so you can bet I am going to stick to this.
Angels 0 Posted April 10, 2006 I got banded on April 4, 2006, and I am on the liquids again for two weeks but just think the good part is I don't have type of appetite and that will probably be the same for you guys. Hang in there and keep us posted:clap2:

K@t 38 Posted April 12, 2006 Hello all, I will be starting the liquid diet on the 19th. My surgeon only wanted me to do it for 1 week...but GEEZ it seems to hard to do that...how are you guys doing? What kinds of things are you eating? I have some Soup mixed my mom sent me, as well as Portuguese Soups, and yogurts, but apart from that I'm out of ideas. Maybe some milkshakes or something? waterlily1072 5 Posted April 12, 2006 Kat, I think all docs differ on the pre-op diet. Mine was just 800 calories a day! With a regular full sized stomach. I was starving. Key is to remember this is so temporary. In a very short time you will get your band and it will be instantly easier. We can do anything short term, it's the long haul that is the true challenge. Just follw the diet that your doc gave you. Hang out here for support, and find something to keep your hands and mind occupied. Good luck, I know you can do it
