My first fill was 3cc. Yet again all Drs are different.

You really don't want to get a huge fill b/c you could blow right past your green zone.

My Dr said the average fill to green zone is usually between 4 cc-7.5cc

All doctors are different so it really depends on your doctor. Some do up to 5, some 1 or 2 cc.

I had 4 cc in a 10cc band the day of surgery and one cc the 2 times it wasn't until the last .5 that did the trick so its a total of 6.5 cc and so far great.

A lot of people seem to think they need to decide how much of a fill to get before they go to the doctor. I would not even worry about that, just go in and tell your surgeon exactly what's been going on. That is, what your eating when and what the hunger situation is. Then let him use his expertise to decide how much a fill to give you. The first fill several people mentioned is going to be the biggest- the tubing that leads from the port to the band needs to be filled. Good luck and keep on track until you get that fill- you seem like you are doing great.

My Dr. put in 3.6 cc's at the time of surgery. So far, I've had 2 fills. The first one was only 2 weeks ago (3 1/2 months after surgery) and he only put in 1 cc. I had my second fill of 1.6 cc today for a total of 6.2 in my 10cc band. Hopefully, I'm on my way to the green zone :) Reading everyone's posts here though, it looks like everyone is different and what works for one might not work for another. I log my food and even though I may be hungry, I don't over and I measure everything.

You should be eating 3 meals a day.

3oz of solid Protein 1/4 veggies1/4 good carbs.

Previous poster is right, everything you're eating besides chicken & beef is slider food.

Dr & Nut said salad is a slider and not to eat it until you are in the green zone.

I would be starving too if I ate your menu! If I get hungry between meals I'll have a cup of herbal tea or SF hot chocolate. Takes the edge off.

the band wont stop you from filling hungry (nor will a fill)

it will help you eat less

if you are hungry, eat a Protein filled food.

Proteins will help you stay full longer (it does for me and i have no fills yet)

also, drink alot. it could be head hunger

but if you are hungry eat. just eat smart.

just my thoughts/opinions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
