Nutritionist Today

Recommended Posts

I am seeing my nutritionist today and I don't want to get on scale. The month of November has been the worst month for me since being banded. I have found sweets not good. I am going in to get back on track. I would just love to skip the weighing in part. Haha.

Nope sorry you gotta jump on those scales! Just tell your nutritionist honestly how you've been doing, it's his/ her job to help you work things out. None of us are perfect but with the help of our aftercare team they can help us get back on track.

As you know facing the music head on is better in the long run..... it will make you accountable and less apt to want to go through it again next month!

Its awesome you are seeing a nutritionist and you must weigh in to be accountable. I suggest you bring with you a copy of some days you have eaten. Mark how long you feel each meal kept you satisfied and also write down any questions you might have so you don't forget. Please let us know how it goes. You will be great just need to get back on track.

Of course I am gonna weigh but just a little scared. I think probally a three lb gain. I am gonna be completely honest with her and use this to get me back I track. I threw out all my slider foods this morning. Eating wrong isn't going to help me to reach my goal. I think in a way its your mind playing tricks on yourself like you have always been fat and being skinny isn't going to be you. Sorry to vent but this is my first melt down since surgery.

Honestly is the best policy. We never want to admit we screwed up, but you have alread admitted you ate things you shouldn't have. Jump on the scales and see the damage then jump back on track and use this as a reminder to avoid the sweets.

Talk honetly to the nutritionist and he/she should be able to help you find a plan that works for you. For instance, when I went to mine last month I told her I was dying for a cupcake- I was really wanting something sweet. She ask what I would do if I made a bach- well I said I would eat them likely all of them within 2-3 days. So she suggested that once a month allow myself a treat- go to the bakery and buy ONE cupcake and savor it instead of wolfing it down. Honestly, now knowing that I can have one, makes it less of a dyer want. Mind game.

So I went and I only gained one lb so not too bad. I was honest with my eating and we discussed how to get away from sweets and other bad choices to get back on track. I love going to see her she always makes me see how far I have come and how great I am doing. Even today I left feeling so much better!

That's great! You will succeed if you continue to work with your caregivers.

They, just like us want you to reach your goals!

Best wishes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
