Hi all!

I was banded in Feb. and 2 weeks ago exactly, I went for a fill and checkup. The doctor assumed some sort of leakage so he injected me with a fluorescent dye and took x-rays. He later indicated everything seems fine and gave me an additional 2ccs. exactly 1 day later, the pain in my port area began. It is so bad that I can not wear jeans or sit upright for too long. I recently went to the hospital for gastritis and GI bleeding (unrelated to my band) and under CT scanning, they found slight inflammation of the abdominal muscles, but no sign of infection. They still put me on 3 antibiotics incase, but it has not helped with the pain.

My question is, HAS ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS? Could the port have been dislodged or torn muscles in my abdomen?

ANYONE with similar symptoms? I'm currently in a different state, but will be home in a few days where I will see my bariatric doctor. In the meantime, I'd like to get some advice!

In the first weeks after surgery, my port would feel good sometimes and then would hurt like hell sometimes, I am 3 months out and it still gets sore sometimes. Getting a fill after two weeks seems like it would still be in the tender stage. If there is no infections I would try an ice bag for a couple days and see if that helps.

I am sorry, I miss understood. if you got it in Feb, than maybe it was the floresent dye that made it tender. If ice dont work, I would call the dr.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
