Hi all! I am 11 days post opt and not sure if im stuck or possibly stretched the pouch. I ate a small helping of mushed chicken and broth and a few bites of avocado for lunch. Now I am swollen at incision and really hurting in my middle back. Is this what stuck feels like? Don't think I hate too fast but some habits are still the norm... lol. Thanks for any advice! Y'all are awesome inspiration!

Are you allowed to eat those foods at 11 days post op? I was on liquids for 14 days and then soft mushies for 1 week. im not sure about the pain since ive never been stuck but it sounds like you may have eaten meat too soon

Sounds like you irritated your band. Might want to call your doctor and ask, but mean time I would do liquids for 24 hours then try mushies again.

Good luck.

In ref: to the mushy stage, my doctor and NUT have also prescribed me mushies pretty much as soon as get home from the hospital from surgery. It includes chicken and fish in my diet plan as long as it gets a spin in the food processor or moistened with something.

You still in pain?

I am uncomfortable still but I think liquids for 24 sounds like a great idea! Just proud to know that maybe im not stuck as I was really wondering how in the world could I get stuck on that! Ha.

Chances are you ate too big a bit too fast. It happens, I've been banded 9 months and still catch myself taking too big a bit too fast.

If you still hurt after 24hrs liquids be sure to call your doctor.

I agree w/ AJ. Sounds like you may have either eaten too fast or taken too big of bites. It is very easy to do as we are learning. So remember to take tiny bites and chew (even in the mushie stage), then wait 30 sec. - 1 min before taking 2nd bite. Doing liquids for a day or two until it feels back to normal is a good idea though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
