Any former or current CPAP users here? I have pretty severe sleep apnea so I absolutely have to use it every night. I got a cute pink one but in all honesty, I'll be way happier to just throw the thing out! lol

Also - any of you that have lost weight and noticed that your apnea went away or at least improved?

After I lost about 50 pounds, my sleep doctor ran another sleep study. Good news, I no longer use the CPAP, AT ALL!!!!

I don't miss it...and mine wasn't even cute or pink!

I still use mine nightly but I still have a long way to go in my journey. Maybe when the next 100lbs are gone I will get retested. I have gotten so used it now that it is not a priority to be rid of it. I sleep so much better with it on.

Yes I too was a CPAP user - severe sleep apnea. Finally after 10 years of use - no more. I lost 60 lbs at the time and the doctor ran another test and said I did not need the CPAP as my apnea was gone. I have lost 30 lbs more since and feel great.

I've used my cpap for a couple of years now, didn't know they came in pink. I've lost 70+ pounds and am going to see my respiratory therapist to see if I should get another study done. Not sure when/if my insurance will cover it and don't want to have one now and not be able to get rid of it. I will be soooo happy when the machine is gone for good.

I have a pink mask too, becuase I've been through so many masks trying to find one that works. I don't keep it on all night I just rip it off by accident int he middle of the night. I hope when I lose weight I won't need it. But I might. My father is very healthy, has never been over weight and has sleep apena and uses machine. So for some people, heavy weight makes sleep apena more severe, but they will still have apenea at any weight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
