How Do You Continue To Lose After Liquids?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, banded 11/12 and down 30 pounds from pre op. I have done exactly what I am supposed to do, following the rules to a tee! But my concern is, how do I continue to lose when I switch from mushies to regular food? Might seem silly but I feel like that will be more food which will cause Me to gain. At this point, I still only eat about a quarter cup of food and have been walking... When I move to a cup, will I gain?

You will lose when you burn more calories than you take in no matter if it is liquids or solids. I ate 1000 calories each day during my losing stage and I lost no matter which form I took it in by. On liquids in the begininning it tends to come off more quickly so do not let that discourage you. But you should be able to lose an average of 2 lbs per week when moving to solids.

Congrats on being down 30 lbs!

I agree totally with Floridays. I have counted calories since the day I got from the hospital and I never eat more than a cup of food per meal. If you're restricting your calories and burning more than you consume, you will lose.

Considering we have lost a combined 384 lbs to date... No wonder we agree on most things. LOL

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
