Can You Eat Steak??

Recommended Posts

This is an odd question sort of, but bear with me. I normally can eat steak with no problems as long as it's cooked right and I eat it slowly.

Our normal steakhouse closed down so we've been going to a local chain grill place. The last two times I've gotten steak there so much of it is wasted. I can't chew it all the way up and I end up spitting it in my napkin because I'm too scared too swallow. It looks normal but it's not chewable. Is it grissle (sp?) in it or what?

I'm so dissapointed because I love a good steak and lately I can't get one.

I go with prime rib if I want beef. It is usually more doable then steak.

Sounds like the quality of the steak is not tender enough. I always order the highest quality steak, yes I spoil myself.

I would try another type of steak or steakhouse. Good luck.

I love steak.... and sometimes my band loves steak. Other times it doesnt. That said...I wish there was a way to know... but since there isnt, I play it safe and always get a high quality beef of the most tender cut like filet or tenderloin. Sometimes a rib eye or prime rib is ok too. Then I just hope for the best.

I have totally given up on steak..no matter how I do it it just will not go down. Last time I vomited 5v times and that was my final clue this is just not worth it. I do love and can eat prime rib rare. YUM

IT'S THE ONE meat I have never been stuck on. Sometimes when I am eating a meat of any kind I just can't swallow it cuz I can't get it chewed. I don't even have to think about it anymore, I just spit it out when that happens.

I think you should try a better cut.

I can only eat the best cuts and I have to cut really small bites...I usually share one with my husband

I haven't tried steak yet. I did have a sliver of prime rib and all was okay. I am 2.5 months out and at zero restriction, so, who knows what the future will bring.

I share with my hubby too... only lean tender cuts. I have never had a problem except with london broil...too chewy and I got stuck, so no more. Filets and prime rib or me! I am worth it!

My husband and I have always loved ribeye steaks and we used to eat one large one a piece. Now, when I want steak, I only take a portion of his and he eats the rest. Would I ever eat a cheaper cut? I doubt it! I had a sirloin once from Texas Roadhouse and what I went through with it almost turned me against eating steak forever! By the way, we have agreed from here on out that if we want steak, we will buy it and grill it at home - it's cheaper, I get it cooked the way I want, and we share without any questions. I've tried tenderloin, but just don't like the taste compared to ribeyes.

Thanks guys! Sirloin is actually my favorite steak ever but the last two were just awful. I try not to get anything too expensive because my husband won't share it with me, I eat medium rare, he eats medium well.

Only time I ever had an issue with Steak was when I ate as a left over the next day. It was too dry and it got stuck.

I absolutely can not eat steak but I know some people can. I also just chew and chew and chew and then I am scared to swallow.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
