Co-Morbity Qualifications?

Recommended Posts

I've posted here before, a long time ago. Now I have different insurance and I'm still pondering surgery.

Wondering a few things though:

Had my gallbladder removed this past week- would that be considered a co-morbity (is that the right term)- have any of you used it?

I also have a history with Weight Watchers and I did 12wks of an intensive weight loss/exercise program, would that count as attempts to lose weight? My insurance didn't say they had to be monitored by a doctor.

I also went to a knee doctor last year and was diagnosed as having early onset arthritis in both knees, is that a co-moribity?

Obviously, my insurance and future surgeon will answer these questions more in depth, but I Was wondering what you all though?

As far as my insurance(Aetna) goes and they're all different, the only co-morbities they recognize is Diabetes, high B/P, High Cholesterol & sleep apnea. No arthritis, I'm waiting on double knee replacement and that didn't make a difference.

Oh, as far as diet goes, again they're all different, some will accept WW and some won't. I had to have 5 yrs. of history with a Dr and being obese and do a 6mth supervised diet with Dr.

They will be able to tell you this when you see your Dr. Try not to worry!

Thanks for reply! I have someone calling me from the hospital I may get the surgery at to do a pre-qualification of pre-qualification (kind of like, general info over the phone to see if you'd even need to come in or not), and they're a state hospital and the one my husband works at (so they'll be really familiar with our insurance)- which is a plus

That's what my bariatric center did. They contacted my insurance and then told me when and how I needed to do everything.

I wish you the best on your journey!

Keep us posted!

Insurance companies are so weird...I have Aetna as well, but they are only asking for two years of history. Makes me nervous that they may come back and ask for five later on...

Don't worry dear! Even within Aetna they have different policies. All the years we've had Aetna(7yrs) I have never had a problem with them. ....knocking on wood.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
