nasianez 0 Posted November 27, 2012 I will be going to my very first LapBand appt in a few weeks. I'm pretty nervous, and even though I did my research on the Band, and to actually see if I'm qualified. What other qualifications would make me qualified besides my weight that I'm some what sure that I qualify for. If someone can help me out on a few answers that would be great! A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted November 27, 2012 First, do you know what your BMI is? If you don't you should figure that out. Typically, anything over 40 (I believe) is enough to qualify if your insurance covers it. However, under 40, they often look for other "comorbities" such as sleep apnea, diabetes, arthritis, etc. Even being over 40, if you have comorbities that may make it easier to get approved as well. 1 Maddysgram reacted to this

honk 780 Posted November 27, 2012 Call your insurance company and ask them if your policy covers the surgery and if so what the qualifications are. I wouldn't bother going to the doctors until I knew whether it would be covered. Unless you can afford to be CashPay
t2dav 17 Posted December 7, 2012 I am also going to my first appointment/seminar next week. I am really curious about getting insurance to approve me, a co-worker had the surgery and the insurance covered them. My BMI is 39.
