Lyoness82 21 Posted November 26, 2012 So at my last post op visit last Monday I found out that during surgery my dr. Found I had a hiatal hernia. She repaired it along with the band surgery. I find it odd they didn't tell me after surgery. Anyway I'm one month post op. I've been readin that people with nothing in there band, like myself feel no restriction, but I do. I can't mor e then a yogurt serving, although I can eat most food except fresh produce. Could this be because I also have swelling from the hernia? Does anyone else have an empty band and feel restriction? Anyone else have a hiatal hernia urging surgery?
Tiffany3280 45 Posted November 26, 2012 I'm kind of in the middle, like you they found a hernia and removed it. I feel restriction more like when I drink Water. My first fill is November 28, and I'm sure I won't as much freedom as I do now. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk 1 destynee1 reacted to this
destynee1 417 Posted November 26, 2012 I also had a hiatal hernia repair and no fill in the band. I however don't feel restriction, but!! I do get satisfied with my smaller portions and stay that way for about 3 hrs. I have my first fill also on the 28th!!

I haven't had a hard time restricting my food consumption but i have had lots of gas and NO bm. Today I'm beginning to feel sick at my stomach. I've not thrown up since the surgery either. I'm still doing broth and had a little low sod tim Soup. I was stuffed. Not feeling well today though. Are laxatives allowed? Its been 10 days since I've gone. Tiffany3280 45 Posted November 26, 2012 I would call the doctor or nurse to make sure that everything is ok. If you take a laxative make sure you take a stool softener, you don't want to strain anything. I didn't go poopy for about 8 days but, my surgeon explained it to me and that I will need a laxative... Call your doctor/nurse.... Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk 2 Marie Brown and destynee1 reacted to this

I finally got ahold of doc today and they told me to take only Prune juice and Colace. I did as soon as I got off work and I feel so much better. 1 destynee1 reacted to this

bchooks 5 Posted November 27, 2012 You are all correct, my surgeon told me the reason for that is, we all have just had a surgery. There is swelling around the stomach which make the band fit tight as if there was a fill. That's why they schedule us 2 weeks out for the fill, hernia or not and yes I had my hernia repaired and oh what great relief. One pill down TEN more to go!!!!!
