I've been banded since July 2012. I've lost almost 80 lbs and have had not any fills. For the past month, i haven't been able to keep anything down. Went to the doctor and he checked the band for a slip and the band is fine. Anyone else having the same problem??

I would go back and have them check it out again. Its not normal to vomit. Is it constant or sometimes. After certain foods or on all foods.

It is pretty much everything I eat. I had 2 days last week that I didn't puke which is so rare. I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed a meal.

Then something is wrong. I bet it has slipped. I would go back and tell them that something is definitely wrong.

He took an xray of my abdomen and saw the band and he said it didn't move. He gave me medicine to treat ulcers but it really hasn't helped. I am definitely going to call and make another appointment.

I had the exact same symptoms for months. My doctor kept unfilling me and told me that slips are extraordinarily rare. I finally convinced my doctor to do a barium swallow or upper GI, which was done last Friday. He found that my lapband had, indeed, slipped and had been that way for a while.

I was scheduled for emergency surgery that same day, and my band was removed.

Bottom line is that the possibility of a slip is nothing to take lightly. If you are not eating or drinking, you are likely dehydrated and/or malnutritioned. You are not getting the nutrients you need.

I would insist on an upper GI if your Dr hasn't done one yet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
