So I'm just wondering... What is a filling????? Sounds painful!! :-(

Filling is when the Dr injects saline into your band to give you the restriction to help you feel more satisfied with less food for longer periods of time. Some ppl need multiple fills to get there and some ppl need very little or none.

It is not painful. Like I said in previous post, a little stick, like a shot and all done. The thought of it is more painful than the actual injection!

Congrats on making this lifestyle change! and welcome! you will find so much information here it' awesome!

Numbed for fills.. where do I sign up? I've had 1 fill and um.. OUCH! stuck me.. I was like.. oh not bad.. until she started pressing on my tummy and moving the needle around in there. Hitting the port but not finding the spot.. she had me do a crunch and hold... let's just say it hurt. She said the 1st is the worse and would be much easier the next time.. I sure as hell hope so! not that i can do much though because I'd have to take it regardless lol

Good Luck All!!! :)

How have you done so far. Can't wait to say I been banded two years. Congrats

I've done excellent. I'm at 163lbs & my goal weight is 150lbs. When I went to my first seminar I was 262lbs. Then chickened out & didn't have WLS. I lost a few pounds on my own & 3yrs later I decided to make changes in my life & have WLS. I'm happy that I did it. U just hang in there because it only gets better.

It wasn't a bad as I thought it would be. They numbed me I didn't feel a thing. I only got .5cc for a total of 2.5cc. Did u have one yet?

First fill was easy for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
