Does anyone still wake up and have that cup of hot coffee just like before you got your band? The craving yo hold that hot cup was overwhelming today so I made myself a cup. Tastes like heaven. I use 1% milk and only one sugar anyway so I don't think its bad. Tea just hasn't been cutting it! Should I not have had the coffee and stick to tea or not worry..its only one cup !!

My nutrionist said that I could have my one cup of coffee in the morning with fat free half and half and splenda. I didn't have it the 2 days after surgery but I have had it ever since.

The stomach is a muscle and caffeine can cause it to move too much. Caffeeine also will dehydrate a body that doesn't take in enough fluids. For these two reasons, my doc says absolutely no caffeeine. I have replaced my much loved morning coffee with a flavored Decaf, and now that my body is used to no caffeeine, I don't even miss a thing. I get to have my coffee, and I get to drink it away from home as well. It's just not worth the possibilities involved, so I broke my addiction to caffeeine.

I gave up my morning cup for about two months but once it started getting cold in the mornings I started to crave the warmth of it. So I'm back on the juice.

My dr said it was fine to have coffee even in the Clear liquids stage but no Creamer. (Which I cannot do!) This is why I originally broke the habit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
