Happy holidays to all! I hope you're enjoying all aspects of the holidays- family, friends, fond memories, and food. I don't know about you, but I completely indulged on Thanksgiving (and today). I felt guilty eating turkey, stuffing, cranberry, mashed potatoes, and gravy... But oh boy, did I enjoy it! I of course had about 1/8 the food I would normally have served myself before surgery, but it was good ratings! I think it's important to remember over the holidays that it is ok to I dulce, just don't over do it. I'm curious about how others feel.

And let's be clear- by indulge I mean have a TASTE of that special holiday treat; not go crazy and OVERINDULGE like so many of us were used to!

Ya, I induldged the same way. Had a bite or two of everything including Desserts, and day after lots of yummy leftovers. Was scared to get on the scale today but was down a pound. Not sure how that happened!!!

Gave all left overs away and only cooked a breast not the whole bird and froze the other half. I love turkey, mayo, cranberry suce on white bread twice a day till the turkey is gone. not one snadwitch this year I am so far ahead.. also first bit of turkey got stuck so the meal was over for me until the next day and I just save a 1/2 c potoes and 1/4 c stuffing (357 cals) but tracked it and I am fine specially after going to the gym before I ate that...I am so proud of myself I think I am going to do it this time. yippppeee

I indulged. I had turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, apple pie, etc. It was yummy. Like you, I only ate a fraction of what I ate before banded.

I feel zero guilt. It's Thanksgiving, and every once in awhile I allow myself a free day. For me, it's necessary so I don't feel deprived. I did it for my birthday, Easter, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. I'll do it for Christmas, too. The trick is- you get right back on track the next day and stay there.

Here's the thing though, we paid attention to how much and what we are eating, I believe that is the difference. We are taking into account what we are doing, but still enjoying ourselves. I too had a bite of everything and did left overs the next day, but stuck to the 1 cup portion and that turkey really makes you tired no matter how much you eat, lol. :) But now back to the healthy eating lifestyle and we are good til Christmas :).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
