I don't know what I did, but I hope never do it again. I ate earlier like three pieces of meat, and was full. About three hours later I had ice cream, and immediately my rib cage started hurting, like somebody was stabbing me and just grinding the knife then my stomach started hurting. It lasted for about 45 minutes then I bathed and put the heating pad on my tummy and I was better. I'm hungry but scared to eat.

You are on meat already? I had my surgery on the 7th, and just moved to soft foods -- would love to chew something :) I had a bout with gas -- from something I ate -- and it felt kind of like you describe. Sharp pain, followed by a dull bellyache -- went away with time and heat. It only happened the one time, but it was pretty painful. Hope its only one time for you too.

I told my hubby it was gas but he thought I ate too much but I hadn't had much at all. I'm glad it's over

I got this yesterday and I hadn't eaten anything. It was right after I drank some cold Water. I drank room temp Water the rest of the day and I had no problem with Prime Rib I had for dinner. I think the water was just too cold, but it hurt for along time. Be interesting what others say!

I had the same thing happen to me with ice cream!!! I thought to myself I will never touch ice cream again. My pain started about ten mins after consuming about five bites.... I thought I ate too fast because I wasn't paying attention due to talking at the same time.... Not sure what it could've been!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
