so i started on thyroid medication & lost 5lbs & i feel like maybe thus may have been the culprit for my weight gain. i was doin a pre-op diet & was not losing at all! now since i started the meds, i feel so much clearer now; no foggy mentality like before & my mood is even cheerful now, it's like I'm back. so I'm questioning "what if" this was my problem. did anyone else go through this? or may it be a coincidence? my procedure is in the 30th, so I may be getting cold feet too.... hhhmmmm....

All depends on how much you want to lose. You can always put of the surgery for a while to see if the weight loss continues.

I agree. If you think the medication will help you lose weight then wait. It can't hurt only be an added benefit if you have surgery but the choice is yours.

TattoMommy, Only an opinion but if I were you I would discuss my hesitation with my WLS or with the psychologist who did my prescreening for WLS. I know you realize this is a big step and you want to be well prepared mentally and physically. Banded living comes with its own set of challenges, and it is a life style change that you must embrace full heartedly. Good luck with your decision and I wish you continued success.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
