molldoll83 22 Posted November 21, 2012 I am two weeks post-op and have lost 23lbs to date, but when I got on the scale today (first time in a few days) my number did not move. On the one hand I know I am being totally illogical and have had great success, but on the other, I feel a bit deflated that I am not losing more. I either need some encouragement or a virtual b$#%h slapping for being crazy/impatient. I am open to either - thanks for any thoughts you all have!
TKW 501 Posted November 21, 2012 Oh honey... get used to it, cuz it will drive you nuts. You would think with the calorie deficit and exercise the weight would absolutely fall off but it doesn't. I get really frustrated at times but I know I have to keep going and eventually it's gotta give. Lots of things can affect it. you monthly cycle, a salty meal will make you retain Water, If you haven't had a bowel movement in a while (sometimes I go quite a few days . Don't get discouraged.... just keep up the good work! Best of luck to you 1 dee257 reacted to this
hely88 883 Posted November 21, 2012 In my opinion also make sure you don't weigh yourself too often. I do once a week and dont own a scale because I would be getting on every day and it would drive me crazy.
TeenaD 16 Posted November 21, 2012 I just had my 2 weeks post op appt and my nurse said that is completely normal to not lose weight until you have been on solids for a few weeks. I've only lost 7 pounds post op and she thought that was great. I think we (me included) all just need to be patient, it took us many years to put it on, and it will probably take many years to take it off. It's a journey that we will be on for the rest of our lives, and enjoy the ride. Better to be going down, then up!

hippychick74 22 Posted November 21, 2012 I agree with everbody's comments. Be patient and throw the scale out the window. What's wonderful is going into your closet and trying on stuff you didn't ever think you would wear again. It's an awesome feeling. 1 TKW reacted to this
CaGottaBand 498 Posted November 21, 2012 You're healing. Don't get too caught up with the numbers. You're doing great!

ssmsdjs 11 Posted November 21, 2012 Don't give up. It has taken me a month to break a plateau and start lossing again. It took me 15mos to lose 94lbs. I have always had it in my mind its not about how much weight I have lost It is being able to keep it off. I have gotten out of weighing myself every day so now I only weigh 3 times a week. It is the baby steps we take that will make us all a sucess. good luck and keep up the good work
bornready 42 Posted November 21, 2012 I lost 28 pounds the first 2 months. Not a single pound the third month. I have since lost another 31 pounds in 9 months. Not a lot, but I do the math and it comes to 59 pounds in a year. This is a marathon, not a sprint. It will start again. 1 vanessa1215 reacted to this

On average you have lost a pound a week all year long! Slow and steady wins the race sister and you are on target for what is expected with the band, 1 or 2 lbs a week! You should be proud! My goal is slow and steady loss
Domika03 309 Posted November 22, 2012 Been there, done that, as most of us have. Remember that the first 4 to 6 weeks are for healing, not necessarily weight loss. Your body needs to heal first. We can all relate with that frustrated feeling. The weight didn't all come on in 2 weeks, and so it'll take some time to come off too. One day at a time!
