MsDuran 62 Posted November 21, 2012 I'm a little anxious for some reason. I have been banded for about 7 months now, I still struggle on occasion but I have not gained and have lost 50 lbs now. 2 bornready and kah1213 reacted to this
♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted November 21, 2012 My first Thanksgiving too. I plan on using a small plate (I always do so my family is use to it). I'll weigh my turkey 4oz, then 1/2 cup of green Beans & carrots and 1/4 cup of stuffing. I'll have a sliver of pumpkin pie (if I'm hungry). You will do fine. just remember the band rules and enjoy the day! Happy Thanksgiving!! 3 bornready, MsDuran and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
2muchfun 8,927 Posted November 21, 2012 I'm 11 months, 20 days out from surgery. Not nervous at all. Having prime rib and all the other regular stuff. The band won't let me eat too much. But, I'm going to enjoy what I can eat and I'll make sure I divvy it around so I get a taste of it all. If I gain a few lbs, it's just Fluid retention. It'll come off in a few days. No reason to give up living at this point. tmf 4 ☠carolinagirl☠, JennyBee, bornready and 1 other reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted November 21, 2012 I'm cooking a huge dinner for my family, and surprisingly, I'm not nervous at all. I've been banded for a bit over 10 months and I've learned I can eat whatever I want, just in moderation. I've had a birthday with a total junk meal and cake, I had candy on Halloween, and I'll enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas too. I'll just listen to my body and when I'm no longer hungry, I'll stop eating. Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone! 8 vanessa1215, loseit, vmarlau and 5 others reacted to this
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted November 21, 2012 Thanksgiving doesn't have to be about the food. It's about being with friends and family and all the things you are thankful for.... donna12 742 Posted November 21, 2012 its my first Thanksgiving too. I'm a little over 5 mos out being banded. Since it's just me and my mom this year we didn't think it would be worth it to cook for just the two of us so we are going to Cracker Barrel and split a plate. I'm kind of bummed we aren't cooking but my mom is 73 and she doesn't feel like cooking and I know you all would say why don't I do all the cooking, well, I could but with just the 2 of us we would have a boat load of left overs so we opted to go out. I'm not too worried about over indulging as she is my food police, lol but I do know this, after eating "food" there is no way I will be able to eat any pumpkin pie, that will have to come home with me for me to take a bite or two later. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 1 bornready reacted to this
Rojasanoll 920 Posted November 21, 2012 My first Thanksgiving as well after Aug 6 band day. I'm not worried at all and I already know I will stay on my journey by eating correctly and healthy. I've been too fat for so long, and I won't cave in on Thanksgiving day meal. Too many meals in the past of eating the wrong foods is why I had to go the band route. I will do the right thing on Thanksgiving and share the day with close freinds and family members.. Best wishes to all and Happy Thanksgiving. 1 donna12 reacted to this

MsDuran 62 Posted November 21, 2012 I am not worried about over eating at all, my band just won't allow for it. I'm just anxious because its so different for me now, I'm not worried, just wondering about all the taste testing needed to cook... Guess ill have to rely on my husband , he won't mind.. 2 donna12 and CaGottaBand reacted to this
hopetolose 192 Posted November 21, 2012 Great day to just have fun with your family. This is going to be the first of many so just think if it as another day where u do the same thing (but slip in a little piece of pumpkin pie) The band will help I control your food intake
hely88 883 Posted November 21, 2012 I have to admitt I wish I could eat a cup tomorrow but I know I have to stay on plan. Everyone have a great Turkey Day!
AngelaLou99 36 Posted November 22, 2012 I'm 3 months out, and my husband is 3 weeks out from surgery, and we are already planning on using smaller plates and just having mostly turkey, and a spoon full of everything else!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
debi_tx78700 7 Posted November 22, 2012 This is my third thanksgiving since being banded. Unfortunately I'm the cook in the family. I will get a small plate. Get up frequently and the band will keep my intake from getting out of hand. I will also add an extra half hour to my work out regime this holiday season and just enjoy it! 1 donna12 reacted to this
hely88 883 Posted November 22, 2012 Careful those who are planning on doing a spoonful of this and that. Those spoonfuls add up fast. Don't forget the band is not going to stop you from over eating. Good luck you all.
Cindy C 150 Posted November 22, 2012 To avoid my first Thanksgiving (4 years ago), my daughter and I drove to Canada where it's not a holiday and went Christmas shopping! This year I'm going to my mother's for dinner. I won't eat much....my body won't let me!
