I don't have any favorites on Thanksgiving. I like it all! But, this will be my first Holiday season after my band and I'm doing so good with my weight loss so I will stay on course and no "slide". I am so positive and strong minded in controlling my weight and getting better health results. My dad recently died (Oct 29) at 91 years old and his memories are still fresh in all my families minds. It will be a quieter Thanksgiving then normal for this reason.

I want to wish all Lapband forum folks a very Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Best Wishes and Keep the Faith.

My condolences Roja.. and you sound like you are doing awesome!! :D I love hearing it!

My favorite is my momma's stuffing! omg so good, but since ALL my family is in cali and It is just my boyfriend and I in florida, I usually make a dinner with lots of leftovers because I was use to the way my mom cooked thanksgiving. lol. this year.. I am making most of the stuff I usually make but waaay smaller portions so I don't have left overs!

Oh!! And Armenian Potatoes! They are soooo yummmmy!

Desserts! I love pumpkin pie. My mom's giblet gravey was my favorite and I am so glad she taught me how to make it. I am cooking the Thanksgiving family dinner this year also and looking forward to having family and friends. Talking with my baby brother from Atlanta last night and he said, Sis, who is going to eat all this food. I told him to bring plenty of dishes for left overs. I love to cook and this is one of my favorite meals to prepare.

MMMMM.... loved my Moms' giblet gravy. Miss her dearly... the one thing she taught us all was how to cook and bake! :)

I think if I had to pick a favorite it would be the stuffing or the wild rice or the shallot and garlic carrots ooooooo maybe that simple green bean casserole. (yup, love it all) And lets not even start on the pie or the home made icecream Grandpa Greg makes with the kids.

Suddenly.... it's all becoming clear. :-/

I am going to enjoy but not over induldge, anyway that is the plan.

Happy Thanksgiving all.... Gobble Gobble

OOOOOOOOOO ya, no... I absolutely have a favorite.

Left overs .... Turkey tidbits over buttermilk biscuits... this has been my all time favorite meal since I was a kid. uff!

My favorite was my Grandma's stuffing! Haven't had it in about 13 years...oh it was SO good! It's unfortunate that my Mom never learned the recipe and I couldn't be bothered to learn when I had the chance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
