Is Anyone Else Having This Problem?

Recommended Posts

So, I had surgery on Friday around 12:30 and I was home by 4:30. By the time I made it home all I wanted to do was take a dose of my meds and then go to sleep. Saturday when I woke up my appetite still had not picked up, so I just kind of sipped on chicken broth throughout the day. My real problem came on Sunday. . . I knew that my doctor wanted me to start having 2 to 3 Protein Shakes a day, but that was virtually impossible. When I made an 8oz. shake, I could only take in about 2 oz. Same with today. . .I don't know what to do!!! It's not that the shakes are intolerable, because they are really good (Syntrax Nectars Double Stuffed Cookie. . . www.mybariatricpantry.com), it is just that I am really FULL after about 3 or 4 sips!?! What would you Lapband Guru's suggest?

My doc had me on 2 oz of Protein Shake at the top of every hour, and sipping other liquids the rest of the hour. If you do that all day. you will get all the Protein you need during this recovery phase.

Lol, that will eventually pass and you will be feeling hunger pains. Just continue to sip, sip, sip to prevent dehydration.

I started with Clear Liquids for a week, full liquids for a week, then soft/mushies.

Welcome to our world.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
