bandedsandi 29 Posted November 18, 2012 Still on the same plateau - will I ever break through?!?! Starting to wonder if the scale isn't stuck.... Banded on 23/10. If I eat any less, I might as well stop eating all together! I'm on MyFittnessPal.com and I log in religiously every day. I'm below 1200 calories every day. I'm still on mushies and I drink at least 3litres Water every day. I haven't been back to the gym, as per dr's orders, but I walk to and from school every day, at a fast, brisk pace (20mins). I do not take the lift, but climb stairs wherever I go. Still, no change in the scale... What am I doing wrong??? Please HELP! 1 Successful4me reacted to this
Successful4me 51 Posted November 18, 2012 I've been banded since Dec2010. This has happened to me more than once & I discussed with Bariatrics Nurse & she advised me to increase my Protein. It worked for me. Sometimes you starve your body thinking its the right thing, but that's not always right. Talk to someone in the Provider's office that did the procedure. Also stay off the scale. Inches matter. I weigh myself once per week. Don't get stuck on numbers. Good luck 3 destynee1, Angelizz10 and bandedsandi reacted to this
destynee1 417 Posted November 18, 2012 I am with you on this sandi. My scale hasn't moved either and I haven't eaten past 1200 cals. I got banded a day before you. I did read it was normal to be at a stand still for a couple weeks. I am on solids as per my doc when I went for my first appt, I pretty much skipped the mushie stage, was on it for about a day but as soon as I started to eat, I didn't lose. Just don't give up.. I few times I've wanted to mess up here and there but choose not to. also.. look in food/nutrition area, and find Carb cycling. quit a few are trying it out and seems to be working great! I am starting this tomorrow! 1 bandedsandi reacted to this
Successful4me 51 Posted November 18, 2012 1200 calories may not be enough for YOU. You may not be getting enough in & there's nothing to burn. Let me know how you make out. 1 Angelizz10 reacted to this
wildrose1966 396 Posted November 18, 2012 You are still in the healing phase and focus should be on healing not weightloss. Your body is probably in starvation mode and is holding onto everything you put in it because it is unsure if you are going to feed it again. Give it time. My surgery was Sept 17th - I lost 10lbs in my first week post op and then from Sept Sept 24th until Oct 24th lost 3 lbs and 3 inches on my waist and 1 on my hips. Now that I am eating regular foods and have started back to the gym, hope to see at least another 3 by my next fill. I am not close to restriction with my band, so this is pure diet and exercise on my part, this is the hard part. 1 bandedsandi reacted to this
Rojasanoll 920 Posted November 18, 2012 I've been on or close to 1200-1300 calories since I started my journey, short of fasting before surgery. I've had 2 fills since Aug 6 and I'm still losing 1 1/2 - 2 pounds per week.
Lapbandster 496 Posted November 18, 2012 My doc said a loss of 1-2 lbs per week for the first year is very good. When I hit a plateau recently I tried carb cycling and lost a few lbs that week. I guess the change of routine has been helpful to me Good luck
4sweeties 63 Posted December 5, 2012 I read the first 6 weeks are about healing and adjusting to the band. Then it's about losing.
Jenilou78 31 Posted December 7, 2012 My suggestion is to go back to liquids for 2-3 days and then to mushies then to solids again, it may be the boost your system needs to restart the burning process. I have lost 25 lbs from Oct 17th til now which is an avg of 3.6lbs a week.
