Time To Stop The Chick Sh*t!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi! My name is Julie. I am hoping that I am posting in the right spot for introductions. I am new to the group and I have begun my lapband journey just about 2 months ago. I have been to the informational seminar and consult appointment. I have my nutrionist and first psychological appointments on December 4th. I am 46 years old, 5'2' and weigh 200 pounds. Many health issues have crept up on me as my weight has crept up over the past 7 or so years. I take medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleeping issues and PMDD. I am the mom to 3 kids, ages 22, 19 and 7 (I adopted a little girl from Guatemala). I have been a special education teacher for about 20 years. And, I guess that's about it! I am glad to be here and looking forward to this new journey...I have a lot of living to do!!

Julie :P

Hi Julie, Welcome to the forum! You will find a lot of inspiration, knowledge and support hear. You might want to start a thread that's strictly for yourself and you will find a lot more people to welcome you. It's ok that you did it here but you'll get more responses on a separate thread. Just title it New Here or something like that.

I wish you the best on your new journey, post often so we can get to know you!

Look Mads, I didn't see the bat signal for banjo to come take care of business.

Or else, you know, I would have been there just like for CG

I understand, it's a cloudy night.

Hi Julie, welcome! I will be banded December 17th so I'm fairly new here. I've only posted one question but I started getting replys almost immediately! I am SO grateful for that support. It's fantastic someone is out there going through the same thing and willing to share.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
