Tanning?

Recommended Posts

So I get this free tan coupon in the mail yesterday that is only good until tomorrow. Obviously real sun is better than fake tanning, but I'm in Canada and its cold here LOL. Is there any rules about using a tanning bed. I'm not a tanning junky I've been probably 6 times in my entire life. I just like the way my skin appears a shade darker. Plus having surgery 3 months ago I think it might make me look a little toner. Thoughts?????

Sorry, but I disagree. Do a little research on the skin damage that tanning beds cause. If you want to have a little darker color, buy some of the fake tanning lotion. I've seen the results of skin cancers in two people who I love dearly so I'm VERY biased.

Ask any dermatologist to see what they think.

If you want to get a little more Vitamin D, spend a little time outside instead of ruining your skin with a tanning bed.

I use to work for oncologist and melenoma isnt pretty. Stay away from the tanning beds. It is horrible what people endure from wanting to be tan. Just my opinion

Real sun is just as dangerous - but I sure can't resist a tan. I believe its ersonal choice. Fake tans these days are very good! In Australia, most people end up losing chunks of themselves o skin cancer, it's not nice.

My surgeon said to stay away from tanning beds.. Tanning can cause your skin to loose elasticity.

No tanning for me! I had had too many basal cell and squamous cells removed. I currently have a bald spot from one on my head.... NO fun! I always wear sun screen and a hat even in winter! I am very pale and people will just have to live with it!

I agree with everyone. Once you have had skin cancer you will never do it again and wear suntan lotion every day, summer or winter. I had sqwamous cell on my face, most painful surgery I have ever had. I live in Florida an wear lotion every day since then. No tanning for me anymore, anywhere!

You did inspire me to slap on some fake tan last night though! Stunk to high heaven all night, and hubby complained, but today i look glowing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
