Hi everyone my surg is 11/29 and my 10 diet starts soon. My dr said low fat not all liquids so..... I need help! Can somebody give me some examples of a meal or a days worth of meals. My nutritionist gave me a paper it says 6-8oz protien, 2 servings of dairy, 3-4 servings of veggies, 1-2 servings of fruit, and no calorie fluids. Now what do I do with that?? Help!

That's good, you get more food than I do! For the no calorie liquids I love the crystal light packets. Maybe you could try those. What types of foods do you like to eat?

It's so strange to me how some of these doctors have such heavy restrictions and others do not? My doctor says liquid only and that consists of 60-90 grams of Protein from shakes mixed with Water. I can have additionally 2 of the following each day. 8oz of light yogurt, cottage cheese non fat - 1/2 cup. One hard boiled egg, sliced turkey/chicken 2 oz or 8 oz skim milk.

I can also have one of these vegetables each day. Steamed non starchy veggies - 1 cup or 2 cups of raw vegetables.

I can have all the SF Jello, and Popsicles I want. My day typically has been coffee with equal/fat free Creamer just a dab. Then a shake, lots of Water, then lunch I have chicken broth with 1 oz of shredded chicken. Then snack I have Jello, herbal tea with equal and dinner I've been having more chicken broth with 1/2 cup cottage cheese and I snack on crunchy carrots and celery in the evening. I try to have two more shakes and I drink lots of water and or calorie free crystal light.

If I could eat low fat, that would be easy!

You could do cottage cheese and pineapple for Breakfast, salad with a few oz of chicken breast meat sprinkled with lemon juice or balsamic vinegar (the good stuff)! And dinner you could have 3-4 oz of chicken, fish or poultry, Beans, and steamed veggies and sprinkle mrs dash seasoning or fake butter from mrs dash on veggies. You could do scrambled egg whites with fresh veggies too. Be thankful your not on the diet I'm on. I'm on day 4 and its getting easier but still a bit tough. What I would give to have a few eggs with fresh veggies!

Yes, we should! I'm super nervous, but determined. I just have to keep my focus to get through this diet! I'm allowed Protein Shakes for Breakfast & for lunch. Then, dinner consists of 4 oz of meat, cheese and/or egg with a half cup of veggies. I can have 2 cups of chicken broth, 2 Jello cups and 2 sugar free popsicles per day as Snacks. I'm hungry! LOL

My surgery is the 26th. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. My doctor has me on 10 days of liquids. I can have 3 Protein Shakes a day. I can have 1/2 cup cottage cheese up to three times a day. I have only been eating it once a day. I can have all the crystal light, Water, broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles I want. I am finishing up day four and so far so good. I thought it would be worse than this. Wednesday will be my biggest test. They are eating at work and having ribs, bbq and all the fixings. They don't know about my surgery so, I am going to pretend my stomach is bothering me so they won't question me not eating.

My surgery is not until January but my doctor insists on an all liquid diet of shakes for 3 weeks prior to surgery. I was told by the nurse that if I was absolutely starving that I could have greek yogurt but it was not to be everyday. I'm more worried about the 3 week diet than about the surgery!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
