Has Anyone Noticed The Extra Attention?

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since July 23, I have lost 67 lbs since pre-op diet. I haven't been this small in over 10 yrs since high school. I am a nurse at a hospital that, honestly, has it's share of good looking residents. Within the past couple weeks, I have noticed a little extra attention & actually noticed some flirtation from male staff members. Holy crap, I haven't had this kind of attention in forever & I still can't believe it. My old mindset still tells me they aren't interested, you're too fat, you're ugly, etc. I wonder if I'll ever get over that old perception of myself??

It takes time but you will eventually become adjusted to the new you. And the attention is nice, but now I find that some people are jealous. I have decided that I am the only person I need to please. First I was too fat now I'm too thin. Geez, some people are never happy!

Girl I got attention when I was almost 300lbs. I never felt unworthy of anyone. I never felt like a piece of crap because I was fat. I do not feel any different about myself now then I did then. Because I learned a long time ago you have to love yourself first and I always have.

I was always told by my mother growing up that I wasn't pretty, my sister was the prettier one, I was fat, blah, blah. I have had a crappy self esteem for years. I have such an improved self esteem now, holy crap!! Still adjusting to my new body!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
