Of course u want to follow what your dr says. My dr allows yogart and I'm 5 days post op. I was eating yogart on day 2 without problem. U can always liquefy it with nonfat milk. Just trying to help. Was amazed by the 23g of Protein. Also I am not big on sugar substitutes but truvia is sweet and not too bad tasting. Good luck and hang in there!!!

Post op I didn't have any Protein shakes they made me gag. I stuck to liquids by making my own nutritional Soups and blending them till they were the right consistency. I'm five months post op and when I see Protein powders' date=' shakes etc even on a supermarket shelf they turn my stomach. A month on them pre op was all I could handle.

It's still early days if you don't get in all you're protein requirements it's ok that will come with solid foods.[/quote']

I am with ya on this one!!! I am 6 days post op and can't even stand the thought of a protein shake! Te smell makes me want to puke... Matter of fact, any chocolate smell makes me nauseous! I am getting protein by milk mostly and today I am going to try the bean soups in the blender to liquefy for added protein. I never want to see a shake again!!!! Lol

Full liquids and clear liquid diet are two different things... I think some get them confused. Full liquids is anything through a straw, Clear Liquids is just that, clear such as broth, juice, ext. I am cleared for full liquids so I am getting myself some bean and bacon Soup and blending it up in the blender today :) excited!!

Somehow they want me to try to get 80g of Protein... As of right now, there's no way. Lol. I live out in the middle of nowhere so the fancy yogurt is nowhere to be found. I have been having the FF Activia yogurt, it's really good and 1/4 cup so it's easy, but I think it's only 7g? It also serves both purposes. I think I can probably stand to have a shake, not that I really want one, but just because I'm getting desperate for something.

Just went for a 45 min walk though, so I need something!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
