Cleared For Soft Foods

Recommended Posts

I just started soft foods as well. What are you planning on eating?! I ate a donut hole today and it went down fine. I'm scared to eat meat or other soft foods people are talking about. I'm terrified of getting stuck....

Well I'm start off with a little bit of salmon n broccoli n mash potatoes but def have to chew very well . N yea try to resist the donuts lol u prob won't have any issues with meats n stuff if you take small bites and chew at least 30 times before swallowing. I love cake but I know if I eat some n find out I can eat It without any issues it will be a problem so I'm just staying away from sweets period.

eating lean Proteins and veggies is better for you instead of cheap and easy foods.

If you are on soft foods, grind up meat and add a little mayo, mustard or broth to moisten it. You will love it! Scrambled eggs, bake some fish and mash it with your fork, retried Beans, cottage cheese, creamed Soups or put any Soup or chili in a blender. I would stay away from the donut holes, hi in carbs and easy to get stuck if you had a fill already, plus you are still healing from the inside out. I would not eat any bread right now, let alone white bread! Set your mind to...you are eating so little so eat what counts and what you enjoy. Make it worth eating!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
