Well i love in orange ma. Springfield our worcester both same distance away from me.i choose Worcester.one because the reviews where amazing.they have a weight program there that you have to follow before the surgery.it took 6 months to complete.the fist step wad to go to a orientation meeting.in a big class room filled with other people looking in to weight loss.they gave to major choices to make After the 1 hour class.choose the weight management program.where you would see a buddhist and a exercise specialist and you would continue to go to learn the proper way to eat for your body.or the surgery root.which then you would have a choice of lapband.gastric or sleeve.i choose Lapband because even though my bmi was 40. I really didn't hasn't a ton to loose. I'm hoping got 100lbs. 57 more to go. After the class you get a call from the weight center to start your program.6 months of seeing a phyciatrist, the general director of the program and a nutrtionist.after the 5 months you will start the one month class of you and your other peers talking discussion groups.then you meet with the surgeon after that.you can choose one or they will choose one for you.they do all the work with your insurance.they try they're best to get you approved for the surgery.my band was the best thing i have ever done.if you have any more question let me know

I used Dr. Haag from PVSA, and have had a WONDERFUL experience. Now, if you want a super personal experience, they are a high volume practice, so it might not be for you. I had also been at the Weight Management Program from Baystate Hospital before going over to PVSA for surgery.

I am from Springfield as well.. Banded on 9/27/12... Same office as Dr Haag, but I had Dr Fiallo.. Def a high volume office.. Not too much of a 1-1 experience, but in the end I got the treatment I expected. Had my surgery in Baystate, and as well a high volume hospital not too much 1-1 but I knew it was a temporary 24hr stay and then I would be home when my journey really begun. I'm down 38lbs and have another 34 to go before I reach my goal. Slow and steady.. But it's coming off.. I'm def not the bandster poster child, but I try my best.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
