For the last 5 years or so I've put a lot of weight on and for that reason I hate the way that I look. I don't like people taking my photo. I have 2 gorgeous kids and there is only a coupe of photo's of me with them. After reading this I have a few more photo's now. I'm considering lap band surgery and have an appt to see a surgeon in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed my surgeon approves me and I can make up for all the photo's I should have taken. It's definitely worth a read.

I dont allow it either....I bet I can count on 1 hand how many photos I am in with my kids and my daughter will soon be 11. I look terrible. I cant stand myself and dont want to be remembered this way by anyone. I know that is terrible and no I am not depressed at all. Just a fact I have accepted. Its all good :)

It is sad that my kids wont have pictures of me but maybe they wont care either?

I was so good at photographing them but have really lapsed that in the last few years also. I need to get back at that for their sakes.

I understand. I have quite a few pictures of me standing behind my kids, hiding everything from the chin down. I am hoping to be in the picture for my daughters grad this year. Fingers crossed.

Awwwww!! You sound like me. : (

Your kids will have pictures!! I'm sure after having a read of the artical and writing your post you feel a little more positive about photo's. Baby steps.

I've got 2 gorgeous kids and I am forever taking photo's of them and hopefully will continue.

I've got 3 weddings coming up and one is very formal so I had to buy a dress... Everyone knows I don't wear dresses. Lol. I tried it on the other day and my 4 year old daughter told me I was beautiful. Awwww. My heart melted. It's true... They don't see how you feel.

When were or are you being banded?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
