I hate to come on here & sound negative but I feel like I need to say I'm not happy with the band for me, it's not what I expected I'm not loosing weight like I thought I would, I know I'm only 6 weeks post op & lost 15 lbs, but when I come on here & read what people lose i can't help but feel down, i also understand everyone's different but as far as I'm concerned when a person goes from eating a xl meal to a tiny little plate it would automatically fall off, I have eaten a lot more food on diets in the past & have had more success, except for putting it all back on eventually, that's exactly why I got the band. When I speak to my doctor he says I'm fine because there happy when it's a pound a week but for me that's nothing & I know it's not going to happen overnight & I have to be patient but it's hard when you don't see good results compared to others that's all,

So sorry people I can rave on & on but I'm just not happy don't know how to continue :(

I do understand your frustration. I am two years post op and it took me 2 years to lose all of my weight. At one year I honestly thought I would be at goal. I had just a little over a hundred pounds to reach my goal set by my doctor. I also hit a plateau and stayed the same weight for 7 months. I know you read on the boards that some people lose at faster rates and it can be discouraging but the goal is to learn to eat healthy and lose the weight this time for a life time. Check out my before and now pictures. I was really fat for my height, but the positive thing is that by losing slow I do not have a lot of excess skin and have been able to tighten up with strength training. You have been doing this for 6 weeks and have lost 15 lbs, is that not better than gaining 16 lbs. You did not gain your weight over night and I am so sorry to say it will not disappear over night, hang in there and work the process and the time will fly by and you will be thinner.

I'm so sorry to hear you feel frustrated....your feelings are very normal.

Loosing the weight slowly makes the regain less likely, so try and focus on that. If you are used to losing faster, but always regain, then just see this as a completely different opportunity.

I have not been banded yet so of course my fear is going through all of this and not losing significantly. Then I think that ANY weight loss is better than where I am now =)

Keep up the good work!

I didn't lose slowly but I don't think it was lightening fast either. I have averaged a monthly 10 lb loss. But I worked hard at it... I tracked every calorie I ate and never went over 1000 for a day. I also measured my portions and made sure to use a scale. This all worked for me... Maybe try to incorporate some of mine or others suggestions to get you on track even before you are in the green zone...

I only averaged 4-6 pounds per month and lost 70 then gained 25 back. It takes time but like any other life change is very mental. Now I'm focused and ready to get back on track. I spent my whole life battling weight so why would it fall off so easily? I really learned I have to journal, I use myfitnesspal (app or website), watch my carbs and have to work out 5-6 days a week. I know we are all different but it doesn't make it easier. Just keep chugging along!

Don't feel discouraged, it's still early days and the weight will come off, I agree with what you said compared to what we used to eat the weight should fall off. Some if us loose quicker than others but we still loose and all those little losses add up. I'm one of those that really has to work at getting every pound off but it's all adding up.

We had surgery so we have to take that into account. It's like a shock to the system. This new tool used correctly will help keep the weight off, hopefully an end to the yo yo dieting.

Once you have the correct fill it also makes it so much easier to stick to the rules because it takes away that constant hunger. It's a very emotional journey too, a huge change.

Hang in there it will get better as you progress along.

Hang in there. Exercise and check and weight your portions. It may be smaller than you think. Still 10 pounds is good for 2 months!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
