Stuck Question

Recommended Posts

Okay I believe I"m in the green zone. I have gotten stuck a couple of times. Boy it is painful and was my own falt for gabbing while eating. My question for you is. Do you find trying to burp helps the food go down? I find that I cough up slime if I try to burp. I usually end up over the toilet spitting out slime. Yet I have yet to throw up. Do you find it helps to swallow the slime as it will lubricate the stuck item? Do you spit out the slime? Do you burp? I know this is gross but i feel a valid question.

Thanks ladies CHEW ON!

I find that if I have a painfil "stuck" its easire to let it come up Slimeball and all!! Burp does not seem to help for me! Its gross but its less painfull than to try and get it down! Albeit I have never had success to get it down!

I try to burp and all I get is a mouth full of slime, which I spit out. I have only gotten it to come back up once. I have never had it last over 20 min- I keep trying to burp and it either goes on down and once came up. Of course this made my throat sore, I guess from the acid. Not really sure what the best thing to do is, but I will be asking the doctor when I return.

Kime we are the same. Burp and its like a giant lougie comes up. Mine lasts about 20 min as well. Not sure if more swallowing will help or hinder.

I have to get it out. I try to burp but know by that time its coming up lol. I know what foods to avoid because I dont do sliming twice on one food lol. I have also learned that eating fast is not a good idea hence I eat slower now.

Eating fast is a killer. And... Talk or eat, we can no longer do both at the same time. My mama always told me to chew with my mouth shut anyhow... guess I should have listened better! LOL

if its truly stuck for me I must get it out. I sometimes find if I try to make it come out it will instead go down. Please understand that as I write this I hope this helps I have made many of mistakes with the eating too fast, not chewing enough and generally not paying attention. I basicly know that I will screw up unless I dummy proof it... so I put my food on a small dinner plate I only take one small bite at a time and chew the hell out of it. When I start to burp a small burp that means stop....note eat a few more bites. If you get the pain in the shoulder you better find a bathroom cause your in trouble. Please do not make the same mistakes that I have it only causes you pain and self doubt. Hope this helps!!

If I start sliming I know that it is going to have to come out , and the longer I put it off the more slime it will be. I have never had a big stuck go down , I bring it up and it should NOT have acid in it because it never made it to the stomach.

The best way to avoid a stuck is chewing and no talking when you put something in your mouth. It is a definite learning curve and even the best of us old hands will have a food stick once in awhile. Burping does not help me either .

I know I am suppose to say that throwing up is wrong but I have carried a stuck food around for 3 days and refluxed through my nose all night and ended up with a total unfill and vomiting blood my not getting rid of something right away. I am not saying you should do it I am saying it works for me. And that was my experience. Go through that a couple of times and you learn how to eat oh and what I had caught was salad .

Good to know. I vomited like 8 times on Steak the other night. Why? Talking and eating. Slime galore. Oh lord. I will never do that again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
