I have my nutrition consult today and I'm really nervous. I know it sounds silly but I'm so scared that she's going to tell me that I just need to try all the things I've already been trying for years!

But all those other times you didnt have the band to help you. The band will do 70% of the work. You need to do the other 30% by measuring your portions, tracking your calories and making good food choices. If you dont think you can do that I would rethink the band if you havent been banded already. If you have been banded... you need to do it or stay fat.

It sounds like tough love.... but its honest. ;)

Floridays is right. You will have to drastically change your eating habits to healthy ones and will have to restrict your portions. The band is only a tool, the work will forever be yours to do.

The difference is, the band is there to satiate your hunger. So maybe you were on 1200 calories a day in past diets. You were likely starving to death, too. When you have adequate Fluid in your band, that feeling constantly starving is no longer an issue. In fact, many of us actually struggle to get in enough calories because our appetite is so significantly decreased.

The nutritionist a great thing and will be a huge asset in your journey.

Doing the work has never been the problem. I haven't been banded yet but I eat 1500 calories a day. I track my intake with MyFitnessPal and work out by doing a boot camp 3x/week, and 1/2-1hr of cardio 3xs/week. My weight hasn't gone down and I'm always hungry and tired. I'm just psyching my self out with the nutritionist thing...

I too have a body that just does not want to give up even a pound, with me having entered menopause. I have to go thru the 6 month diet before I can be operated on.I imagine that I will see the Nutritionist a few times if not more. The way I see it, is if we are doin everything we can, and the Nutritionist sees that, its just one more person in my personal arsenal of medical folks saying its medically necessary that I be banded, for quality of life. In other words I have put them in the "asset" corner of my mind. Its not a good thing to categorize in YOUR corner of the mind them being a "threat" beforehand, as it may become a self fulfilling prophecy. Im not saying it WILL HAPPEN, Im just saying that it DOES HAPPEN. Good luck! Sandy

Unfortunately, all foods you put in your mouth are NOT controlled by the band. Wise choices of what we put in our mouths has too be done around the clock. We all have the same choices in life of staying fat and unhealthy, or attempting to eat better, lose some weight and obtain a healthier quality of life.

I have chosen the latter. Best Wishes and Keep the Faith.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
