New Here! Day 6 Post-Banding

Recommended Posts

Hely is right. I have a realize band and I was filled one month post op with 3ccs. I feel great and am rarely hungry now but I know I'm not in the green yet because I don't really feel restricted.

My friend who had lapband before me lost 40 lbs out the gate and then stalled because she kept wanting more fills and more fills until they had to unfill and wait to start over. She didn't start dropping again until almost 2 years out. She told me to be satisfied when I got to the first tight feeling and not be too in a rush.

My Dr told me that it doesn't matter the size of band or how much fill because each person is different.

Pre-op 275.9lbs -surgery 10/5 265.0lbs -11/11/12 241.8lbs

I was hungry from about day 3 post-op. I was so upset since every single post-op person in my support group said they never feel hungry! Couldn't imagine what was wrong with me!! I was on Clear Liquids and had such pain and nausea from hunger I thought I was going to go crazy. Started full liquids 2 days earlier than scheduled. Cream of chicken Soup tasted like a Thanksgiving meal!! I am almost 3 months post-op and get hungry all the time. I eat small, healthy meals/snacks throughout the day and I am down about 25 lbs. Have not gotten a fill - and don't know if I even want one yet. I am losing weight - and I literally never feel deprived - so why fix what ain't broke? All I can say is that this surgery is the BEST thing I ever did for myself! The beginning was hard - but knowing where I am now... all worth it! Hang in there... Sending hugs and prayers your way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
