Say A Prayer.... Xx

Recommended Posts

My daughter is having lapband surgery today. We are in the waiting room as she gets prepped. This has been hard for her as she feels many have judged her because of being 21. We have a significant history of diabetes, HTN, and heart disease. Since my surgery I am off all diabetes medication and one of my BP meds. We have battled weight issues and we have both come to this conclusion.

Prayers sent... I wish that I had been brave enough at 21 to get this done! I wasted another 35 years of damaging my body before I finally had surgery. Good for her!

I agree. Thank you for your prayers. People don't understand the soul searching you do before coming to this decision.

wonderful!, I wish I had done it when I was younger instead of always struggling with my weight.

I wish I had too. I am just so glad we are taking control of our health. It is funny, I did not realize the power I had in my hand regarding our health. As soon as I started to take an active part in my health the rest of my family did too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
