Spitting Food Out.....

Recommended Posts

i know this is wierd question--has anyone ever had a craving for a particular food after being banded and just chewed it and spit it out?

i mean not swallowing any of it?? i do not have band yet, but i do not

want to freakout and try to eat something like, coconut cake or some

other thing i might want. i wondered if just tastingit--then spitting it out would work if it is a very bad craving i cannot get away from....

alot of people have done that on here. Me included!!!! I don't recommend making a habit out of it but once in a while it dows not hurt in my opinion. Sometimes you just need to taste something and get that craving out of your head.

Just keep in mind that carbohydrates begin to be digested in the mouth (unlike fats and proteins) so spitting it off does not mean a zero calorie intake.

I know people who have BUT that is a slippery road to start your way down & I wouldn't do it Imo. Its a life change & everything in moderation is ok.

Hi,

I did this in my first several weeks with bacon. I just chewed it to a pulp and then spit it out. My nutritionist said that this was normal. THe chewing impulse does not go away for some and when you are on liquids for extended periods of time, you get the craving to chew on something.

I wouldnt worry about it unless it became a habit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
