Biotin is very good for your hair, skin, and nails. The breakdown for Biotin is that it converts carbs into glucose and fat, and amino acids into Protein.

To answer your question, yes Biotin is very good for your hair. It helps with shine and brittleness (less breakage). It gives the hair more luster and less splitends.

On a personal note: I started taking Biotin 7 months before surgery so that I could combat any Hair loss. It does work don't get me wrong, but my hair is falling out due to the rapid weight loss with the combination of anesthesia. This is temporary and many weight loss patients experience this. Some are lucky not to have any loss of hair, and some even claim their hair grew back thicker.

Don't panic, new hair will grow. Remember it is temporary. I tell myself this every day while my hair is falling out. My hair is growing because I had to have a haircut. You will notice less breakage as the weeks/months go by. Anything else you can do to prevent this. NO, medically speaking there isn't. You can use shampoos specifically for hair breakage that could help. Keep taking the biotin pills it will help tremendously.

Hope this was helpful,

I have heard it makes a big difference. I have more hair than I know what to do with, so the minor Hair loss was not a big deal to me. Be careful if you have any condition that causes unwanted Hair growth. PCOS, for example. It causes hair to grow on your chin, stomach and nipple area. If you take Biotin it will multiply by 10! Good luck!

Hair loss in our mid 20's is hereditary on my mom's side, my grandma is 82 and has been using hair pieces for like the last 10-15 years because without them she is pretty much bald. So my mom started taking Biotin about 7 years ago and I noticed my hair was getting thinner too so I started taking them and my sister started as well a few years ago when she noticed thinning, and we are both young, she's 29 and I'm 31 and yes the Biotin makes a difference. It makes our hair thicker and stronger and I have by far way less split ends then I used to. The Vitamins can be pricey and when I finish a bottle and go longer then a month without buying another one, I start to see way more hair coming out in the shower when I wash it. So yes, It definetly helps!

I took 5000mcg on my college graduation day June 2008 my hair dresser cut my hair from my lower back to my jaw by mid summer 2008 I was desperate to have my hair I took 3biotins a day by Xmas by hair was grown out all the way to its previous length. I was obsessed with taking pills. After a year I stopped. It's 2012 my hair still grows super fast. It's amazing stuff. My brow hairs were like weeds I had no other problems with hair on my body.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
