What Are You Thankful For

Recommended Posts

Today I was thinking about all the things I am thanful for since Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I am thankful for finding a wonderful husband that I can share the rest of my life with, thankful for my children and grandchildren, thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in other peoples lives and thankful for not going to over indulge again for the third year as the holidays approach. I have learned that holidays are about having a good time, not stuffing my face and that family means more to me then food. I have learned that I can and will be accountable for everything that I do regarding my weight loss and that includes eating things I shouldnt. Don't let the holidays sabotage you this year. Think about all your are thankful for and make that your priority.

I am thankful for my supportive husband, my 2 daughters and most especially my 17 month old granddaughter who had given me a whole new reason to live.

Additionally I am thankful that I kicked myself in the head 2 years ago and found the inner strength to get the weight off and become the person I always knew was hiding under all the fat.

And lastly I am thankful for my band and the support it gives me as I learn to maintain this weight.....and my dr for teaching me how to live with it...

Ok, I am thankful for this site, because it has so many helpful people who encourage everyone.

I am thankful for my husband who, also, has stuck by me for 42 1/2 years thru sickness and health. Seemed like a lot more sickness.

I am thankful for my children and beautiful grandchildren.

I am thankful for all my family and friends.

I am thankful that I live in a country that pulls together for folks, in the time of their greatest needs, even if they don't agree with their political stance. Happy Thanksgiving next week to the USA! Karen

I am thankful for this little girl

She saved my life in so many way. She gives me a reason to live & to push forward. From the moment I knew she was growing inside me I changed. She gave me the motivation to follow my dreams of going to Med school. That journey will begin Fall of 2013.

I am thankful for my lap band because it has given be back control of my weight and its the best choice I've ever made.

I am also thankful for my boyfriend of five years who has stuck by me through everything. Im hard to deal with at time and he knows just how to deal with me.

wow what a wonderful thread!

I'm most thankful for a wonderful surgeon that saved my life and gave me my life back. Although I've only lost 45 lbs and have so much more to lose, it is an accomplishment and I'm proud.

I'm thankful for my mom giving me a roof over my head after my divorce, she's my rock and biggest cheerleader throughout my journey.

And I'm most thankful for my brother and his wife who both battled cancer at the same time, a yr and a half ago. My sister-in-law is cancer free and right now my brother is in remission but still undergoing chemo every three weeks. I often ask myself why God gave him this disease and not me, he has so much to live for, a wonderful career, house, beautiful wife and me, well it's just me now. I guess God has other plans and we are not to question. I'm thankful I still have them here and in good spirits.

What an awesome thread, thanks for posting. May everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
