First fill? Assuming your band is empty...

My fills were free for the first 5 months.... I had 4. Then they were $50 each until this year and they went up to $100. I am a self pay

Or do you mean how much in terms of quantity? This depends on your surgeon and how you are progressing. I think my first fill was 2.5cc. Some doctors are more aggressive with fills, others are more conservative.

Cost? I am in Australia, went private for my surgery but all fills and follow ups are covered by our public health care, Medicare.

Surgeon told me first fill will be 4cc's ..my band is 10cc and empty..is that aggressive? Honestly, I feel I could use the fill now at 3weeks post op..gotta wait 3 more weeks...

4 cc's is agressive and I would not go for more then 1.5. You have to remember your stomach will swell after a fill. 4cc's plus swelling could equal trouble. I don't like doctors that take that approach. Go slow so you will be okay.

I had 4cc put in my band during surgery. I have a 10 cc band.

My fills are free if I go to my surgeons office. Its part of cost of the surgery.

Every doctor (surgeon) is so different; however, my surgeon said "ALL" bands have to have something added during surgery to "prime" the band; he put in 1 1/2 ccs @ surgery; then 2 ccs at my first fill

My band had 3.5 cc at time of surgery, and first fill was to 4.0 cc, now at 4.5 and no fills for 6 months.

I have a 14 cc band, 5 cc's in at surgery then 1 cc at a time- I don't think that 4 cc's is too much for a first fill, and your surgeon knows best.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
