Banded On Nov.8--Seeking Advise&tips!

Recommended Posts

My name is Andrea! I was banded on November 8th, 2012. I've been looking forward to it for the last year. I just turned 20 years old on October 11th. After surgery I was sore, but every day its getting a little better. I've been drinking liquids, mostly Protein Shakes, but I'm also trying to get my Water in to so I'm not dehydrated. Its hard because I do feel hungry often! Any suggestions, tips, or advise anybody can give me for right after surgery?

:wub:Thanks, Andrea

My surgeon said Clear Liquids for two fays.. mushy foods such as pudding soft cereals and cottage cheese then moving on to egss and mashed potatoes and soft sandwiches.. everyone's surgeon is different I've seen people say that they're surgeon is saying liquids for two weeks post op.. mine says I should be on solid food two weeks after and I should change foods as my stomach can tolerate them

Thank you! :D I've just been hungry....It's hard for me to just drink liquid only. I have two more days until my appt with my surgeon. Then hopefully she will move me up to stage 2. Does it get easier?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
