First Stuck And Pb Right After 1St Fill

Recommended Posts

Ok so I had my first fill on Thurs. morning and was on a liquid diet till yesterday afternoon. For lunch I tried having a Healthy Choice bowl and it was a huge mistake. Now I was able to eat it just fine before the fill. I know I obviously didn't chew enough or maybe it was the rice in it after all, but it got stck real good. I ended up haing my first PB. Not fun. I will not do that again. Ended u throwing away 3/4ths of the meal away. Is this a common experience after a fill, finding out your limits, or was this just a first fill beginners mistake?? Thanks!

Common. I got stuck on soft scrambled eggs. Take it slow and you will learn your new limits. Sorry about the PB, but now you know! By the way, I eat NO rice, an d very little Pasta. It is a problem food for me.

The stuck thing is just a reminder of rules and what we can tolerate. Corn, rice, bread not for me but these are what got me heavy in first place:(

No one enjoys the stuck episodes or PB but it can happen. Mine do about a week after my fills so I have to re-assess how I eat, how fast I eat, and my bite sizes. It's crazy how in the beginning I could eat a half a plate, then a quarter, to a cup, 1/2 cup, to now finally 1/4c green zone for the most part.

Its common. Sometimes it's trial and error. When you have a bad reaction to foods just don't go near them again

For me. No Pasta, rice, bread ( except croutons ) still cannot do beef or pork. Trial and error you will figure it out. hugs.

I agree, after a fill you can be easily irriatated, it gets almost sensitive or mine does, so ease into it..AND I found that after each fill the things I use to be able to eat, I can not anymore..so a good idea is to look at alot of the foods that the long time banders eat and see if it will work for you, I know this has helped me alot!!! Good luck!!

Csking, reading your post made me remember ... Vividly... When the same thing happened to me. Ugh, ugh, ugh I thought I was going to be the first lapbander to die from eating, of all things, a few tortilla chips! Usually chips work fine for me and they do again, by the way, but for some reason on that day a couple of days after my fill, they did not. Now, everyday, when I eat I go realty really slow and see how I will respond before I continue. It was a real learning experience, and now you know too! You won't forget how it felt, believe me!

Is it just a burp or does food come up. I burp often but nothing comes up

It depends. Sometimes it's just a burp or a little food and mucus comes up. Sometimes it's painful throwing up and chest pains. It happens to me if I eat too fast or too much. If you talk while you eat it can happen. You just have to be careful to chew everything well and stop when you are satisfied.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
