I love watching Triple D, I look at the food and try to think of ways that I can tweak them and make them healthier... Don't get me wrong there are times when I crave a big ol cheeseburger fries and onion rings, but I know first I can't digest it. So, I look for healthier versions....

I've become addicted to looking at recipes on pinterest. I'm too trying to find ways to tweak them. I'm a pastry chef and this has almost inspired me to try different recipes at my bakery. I think something looks super delish so I make it, even knowing I can't have it, it just makes me happier now that other people love it. It's really strange. I am hungry all the time and trying hard to stay within dr.s orders but I've advanced myself a little to the next stage because of my hunger. I am a "foodie" by profession and my palate is a little more advanced, so Protein Shakes and broth just do not cut it for me. Good news is that I'm down 12lbs from surgery on 11/2.

great that you are down in weight but advancing yourself to food before you are healed is risky business. It's so important to follow the rules that your dr set forth.

I still watch the food network but I look at it as entertainment. I also am one of those people who love to cook and love making band friendly food, this is a forever for me and temptations will always be there and I chose not to look the other way but test myself instead. Makes me stronger.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
