Struggling

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to get my head in the game! Banded on Aug 20 and after having a port revision on Oct 29 I finally got a fill 4cc in my 11cc band! I can eat anything. But can certainly go longer periods without Being hungry. I have not lost a single lbs since my first fill! I have maintained to the ounce. I haven't been working out because I could not due to the second surgey but am allowed to start again next week! I need to stick to healthy foods get back to the diet mentality any suggestions????

Start with the basics. Count calories and measure portions. Eat 3-4 oz of Protein, 1/4 c starch and 1/2 c of veggie at every meal.... If you are hungry after that you may need a fill.

Good luck!

You say I can eat anything but can go longer periods without hunger. That's exactly what the band is supposed to do. It's not supposed to physically stop you from eating anything, just satiate your hunger.

About how many calories a day are you eating? If you don't track calories, I would.

Are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal? If not, you should.

Have you been to a nutritionist?

Keep to the program. Everyone has ups and downs. Measure and weigh your portions to determine if you are eating the right amounts.

I struggle also sine aug 20 thought it was me failing again. But I got my 3rd fill last week and it is so different (10 cc band cc with 6.5 in) I hope this last a long while. doctor said I could have another 1.2 cc in 14 days if needed so keep that in mind and if you still feel hungry all the time get a fill don't wait a month like I did. Track every bit and drink it really helps to do that.....it gets easier when you get to the green zone I am almost afraid to count that I am there it feels just right and every time I think ive got it..I don't....good luck and hang in there................line dancer

Hey Mis73..

I am using my fitness pal and eating about 1308 a day. I was cleared by my surgeon to start exercising yesterday but no weights over 10lbs for 2 more weeks. I am counting calories, have a nutrionist and a therapist. Helps me stay motivated and on track. I have no gone over my 1308 calories a day and still nothing. I am by no means able to eat what i used to and in fact have continued to follow the high Protein 70-75g a day and fruits and vegetables. When i mean I can eat anything, I should have been more specific and said I haven't had any issues with anything going down, no stuck episodes thus far thank god. I just feel like right the numbers should be moving. I thought my scale was broken so I had everyone on my house step on it, because I have never seen the scale remain the same. Not a single fluctuation.

I have schedule a fill for next Monday, so I am hoping that will be able to push me in the right direction. I understand the band wont do this alone for me and I am fine with working with it and doing my part. I just got really frustrated with where I am and where I guess I though I should be.

I do appreciate the support. Thank you everyone who posted on this. Your support means the world to me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
