Diarrhea - Sorry

So I was banded 11/8 (3 days ago) I am on my all clears for a week. And I suddenly have the runs. Is this normal? Should I be worried? I hate to be descriptive but it's like Water :( help!

Add a Fiber supplement to your liquid. There in one that comes in box of packets like crystal light. You can put it in anything liquid. It's tasteless... You won't even know its there...but it helps. If I recall during liquids I used 2 a day

Thanks soooo much! I was afraid. I know what you mean about "missing". I won't mention what happened already. Lol. But again, thanks for the reply. I didn't think it was normal, considering I haven't eaten!

I too had that "problem" after surgery.I was banded on May 16th and it was HORRIBLE and embarressing at a dept store,I wont go into details but was mortified...My doctor said it was due to the body's adjustment to the banded life and it would pass..Well it did pass and I couldnt be happier with the decission to be banded.

I found that when I buy the Protein Powder Meal Replacement and drink it with milk, I had diarrhea. So I switched to muscle milk light since its lactose free and it hasn't bothered me since. I would say maybe I'm lactose intolerant, but things like cheese and yogurt don't bother me

So I dunno

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
