oladad 47 Posted November 10, 2012 I just had my surgery, hernia and my lap band on the 8th of November . I've done pretty well but today I'm hurting pretty bad on my left lower side just below the ribcage. Is this normal? is this were the top of my stomach is? I know that sound stupid but I really don't know. If anybody could help please comment, thank you

DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted November 11, 2012 It sounds like leftover surgery pain. Is your port on that side, too?
acoleman380 23 Posted November 11, 2012 I also had my surgery with hernia repair on the 8th and im really sore still. Its only been 3 days so i think that has alot to do with it. Its just going to take time
oladad 47 Posted November 11, 2012 Mis72, yes it's under my left arm way above the pain. Do you think the pain is where the band is?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted November 11, 2012 No, I think it's just residual pain from the surgery. You have to remember, they cut into you. Even though small it damages the muscle and tissue beneath, causing pain. Use your pain meds. A heating pad might help too. Unless it becomes warm to the touch, the incision near it starts oozing or smelling bad, or the pain increases to an intolerable level I'd simply give it a couple days to calm and heal. Hang in there, it gets a lot better and easier

Mayasgram 351 Posted November 11, 2012 Never let the pain get ahead of you take the pain meds when it's time for the first week. This is not the time to be a Superwoman... 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and kyrasgrandma reacted to this

SueBee01 630 Posted November 11, 2012 Remember to do a lot of walking, a little at a time. It mat still be gass pain. You also will not feel 100% until week 4-6 as you had major surgery and your insides need to heal. Don't overdue it. Also, make sure you are drinking a lot of Water and add a stool softener or Fiber to your drinks so that you so not get constipated. That will be the worse! Good luck!
