Anxiety Anyone???

Recommended Posts

So it's two days til surgery and I am anxious and emotional. I have lost 9 pounds on preop diet happy about that and now my mind is playing with me. I am nervous about going to Mexico but its the only choice I have since I am self pay. I have soo many people in my family depending on me financially and I feel so selfish for spending the little I am on this surgery. I'm scared something may happen and I have the most beautiful 3 year old in the world t

Don't know why I am all tears today but I am so ready for this to be over and hate myself for allowing it to come to this. If I had half the self control I have had the last 2 weeks thru the pre op diet (not cheating not even once) why couldn't I have more self control before.

Lace my date is coming up too and I get these thoughts often as the time

Gets closer. I have three little girls and the negative thoughts come and the feelings of guilt and "what ifs" come. Then ill look at someone's success story and I start to think what if... It does work and my kids get twice the mom at half the size. Can you imagine how this will affect their life in a positive way? Teach them healthy eating, have some self esteem, be more Active with them, go swimming more cause I won't be so ashamed of bing in a swimsuit! This is how I try to deal anyway. Feel free to msg me if you want as we have similar fears! We can do this!

You are experiencing normal feelings. You will be fine and your daughter will be better because she will have a loving mommy around for a very long time. Congratulations on the decisions you have made. They will last a life time!

I know how you are feeling. I was banded last week and felt so anxious. I finally had to focus on why I was getting the surgery and had to stop focusing on what got me there. I have two small boys and I am doing this to make me the best mommy I can. I have a hard time keeping up with them and the surgery will help me with this. Both of my boys were c-section babies and the pain with the c-sections has 20 times worse than the lap band. Take your pain meds and relax. You will be tired!

Good luck....I know that you will do great!!

hi i was banded in march this year. i'd fogotten about the angst before hand. i'm sure everyone feels anxious before their surgery. on the count down to my surgery i was a wreck. 50% totally excited about my new life and 50% terrified something would go wrong. and on the day it was hell coz my op wasnt til 8.30pm and all i could have was water!! all i can say is i have no regrets. would i do it again? 10 times over. i felt a bit selfish getting a loan to pay for it, but why? im the one paying it back. its only money and money cant compete with quality of life. its an investment on your healthy future! best of luck to you x

You will do great! I had surgery a week and a half ago and I had anxiety before and even the day after surgery. But it goes away! A few days after surgery you will start feeling like normal and this will all be behind you. I never even took one pain med so the pain is so minimal. Good luck! This is the best investment that you can make for you and your children's future;)

I think we have all been there. Anxiety, nervousness, fear is all part of the process. I was scared right up to the time the surgeon came in to talk to me just before my surgery. He said everything would be good and it was!

Just think how much better your life is going to be after surgery.

Sending you lots of hugs.

When you have a c-section they're actually cutting an organ open, not with lap band. I was trying to compare to my hysterectomy and no comparison at all. It feels like you did a bunch of situps and the gas was the same as hysterectomy, but walking took care of it quickly. More of a discomfort than pain.

I haven't had my lap band yet, but I am nervous like you, I had a surgery in August and was just as nervous. What helped me then, was telling the dr how I felt. Even the day, an hour before surgery as I was getting preped I said to the surgeon, "I guess it's too late now to back out" and nervously laughed and he said, no it isn't. That answer surprised me, but it also made me stronger. It was my decision and I really wanted the surgery and I did not want to back out, I just wanted to survive and have little to no complications/pain. So I prayed and positive self talked. I told myself I was strong, I could do this, I wanted this etc.

When the anesthesiatologist met me a little after, I said I have 3 kids who will be distraught without me, so do your best work please. I also said please I am scared I will tell you my deep dark secrets or say something I'll regret as you put me to sleep, so please talk to me about yourself or general things as I fall asleep. She did and it took away that personal fear. She also asked me what else I was scared about and explained things.

And I told the nurse assigned to me, when she said how are you doing, I said I'm good but really nervous.

Telling the team, helped. They treated me the way I needed to be treated. It really helped.

Lap Band surgery is not as bad as many other surgeries I have experienced. We all had our doubts and second thoughts, but I don't know anyone with a band who would trade it for anything!

You are right CHEZ.... Yesterday the plastic surgeon told me the lift and Tt i am considering makes the lap band surgery a walk in the park.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
