Cant Stop Eating Choc

Recommended Posts

Why go to great lengths to have surgery and sabotage yourself with chocolate. Do you want this or not? Stop eating candy that is why we all were over weight. You are defeating the whole purpose if you continue to go on the path you are on.

couldnt have said it any better than this in response...

I LOVE the swiss miss diet hot cocoa - very chocolate-y but doesn't trigger cravings, since it's a completely different consistency....

I'm 6 weeks post op in the last week I can't get enough of choc & chips im eating it I think because it goes down well but it's so wrong.

How do I stop???

You just stop. I know it sounds like tough love... But you are the one in the drivers seat. You must eliminate all the junk food and just stop thinking about it. No one can make you stop but yourself.

While losing I had chocolate almost daily. In the form of a Fiber one 90 calorie brownie, a 40 calories sugar free fudge popsicle, a sugar free pudding cup or sugar free hot cocoa. I made it part of my 1000 calories for the day and I ate it. It was a conscious choice and I planned for it.

If you want to be fat... Keep on with mindless eating. But I doubt that's what you want or you wouldn't ha e asked for help. Be strong and dig deep for the strength to make this happen

I hear ya, I have had a couple andes mints here and there, but how I stop my self from going overboard is thinking, I just spent $1500 out of pocket, went through a surgery. No way did I do all that just to screw it up. You are the only one that can control you. If it helps get all that stuff out of the house. If its not there then you can't east it. You really just have to be strong, get your mind off the cravings. Excercise, go read a book, watch a movie, call a friend. That band is just a tool, it won't work if you don't use it.

I can't keep chocolate or chips (or other junk) in my house, because if it's here, I'll hear it calling to me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
