Try remembering what you have just done to yourself and why. You have had major surgery. Presumably you did that to lose weight and improve your health. Think what a waste it will have been if you don't take control.

Your body is probably lacking some electrolytes and minerals, which cause the cravings....

When lapband does not work for someone its because they eat around the band. That is what you are training yourself to do and what i started doing 4 wks post op. Put the candy away.. Give it away..trash it.. I did and am on track, you can do it

How much choc and chips are you eating? Are you substituting this for meals?

How about using chocolate Protein shakes to get your chocolate fix. Or adding cocoa powder to a vanilla shake. I used the cocoa powder on my pre op diet and found I had no chocolate cravings at all. In fact I was kind of sick of chocolate after that diet!

As for chips - maybe you are really craving something salty?

Take some time to think about why you got the band and how great your life will be when you lose your weight. Doesnt mean you can never have chocolate or chips again. Moderation is the key,

Sorry your in this rut...but I think your the only one that can stop it.....

If it was Id just put all the chips and choc in your sink pour soapy Water over it all...then toss it in the garbage....You can do it....Always easier said then done.....I have been there...I just had to remember..ok it makes me feel good when eatting to a point..because even when eatting it you KNOW its hurting you.....and after your done the weight and the guilt hurts more......

If you have to have one...remember the 2nd...3rd or 4th one is going to taste just like the first...Good Luck...and God Bless you....

Why go to great lengths to have surgery and sabotage yourself with chocolate. Do you want this or not? Stop eating candy that is why we all were over weight. You are defeating the whole purpose if you continue to go on the path you are on.

Oh but yes you can stop eating it.... How .. you just stop ,,,you don't have it in the house ..You don't buy it . you don't smell it you don't have a taste... You don't eat around it like substituting choc shakes for vanilla. YOU JUST DON'T HAVE IT... maybe someday maybe never if it's your food that starts you on a downward spiral..

As former fatties we know what food triggers us.. so you just don't have it.. I wish I had all the $$ I spent on junk food for my KIDS that they never saw because I ate it before they could. Look somethings just are not good for us physically or mentally , It's Time to put that away and stop playing games you can do it the question is will you... And if not ask yourself why is a chocolate chip more important than you are assuming you went through this whole process for a better life... Sorry no chocolate coating here..

chocolate - Protein drinks/shakes. sf Jello chocolate pudding 60 calories/ hot chocolate, Decaf coffee.

Chips- low fat crackers

It is true you will have to gain control of what you eat. These are just some suggesgtions of things that might help. I can tell you from experience that the more you eat something for example sugar the more you will crave it. You need to just stop and drink a lot of Water till you get past it.

Good luck!

GhrelinBGone has a video about what she eats for chocolate fix. She says that she does not allow milk chocolate into her mouth because its a trigger food. It's about finding what you can't handle and avoiding it completely.

She is a success story so she obviously has some insight through experience.

call for some consoling we eat for other reason then we like the taste. you need to be mentaly prepared to loss weight and getting your head straight is the first part. I got everything out of the house snd its hard no to buy the junk but I do it and 22 lbs later I am glad i went this way and got past the first hard days. I crave these things if they are around so I just don't get around them. Even if I go somewhere and they have the wrong foods and i don't feel i can trust myself i leave This is work like any other diet but the band can really help. give yourself a chance.....line dancer

You said you are eating these food because "it goes down well" .. what do you mean by that? What are you eating that you are having difficulty swallowing. That is where you need to figure out. Are you having a hard time swallowing your foods? are you substituting 'slider' foods in place?

If you are doing this because of 'cravings' you need to find other ways (healthy) to curb the craving monster. Chocoloate Protein drinks first thing in the morning might help. Throw away the chips and candy outside to the trash. If you bring them in the house temptation will always be there.

You can do this!! Stay strong and clean out the garbage today!!!

Find a substitute. Protein Shakes, SF pudding, sf hot chocolate all go down real nice. You can gain weight with a band if you are not willing to make life style changes. It sounds harsh I know, but really?? You did not have surgery because you like your current weight/health level. Suck it up! There are a lot of people here who have been successful. A few have not, but most of these are finding away around the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
