Ready To Move From "mushies" To Real Food Question?

Recommended Posts

I'm ready to move to real food. My husband wants to eat out. Is this possible right now? What would I order? Where would be the best place to go. Any suggestions? Very excited and nervous too. Have lost 28 pounds post op so I'm happy but the next stage scares me to death!! Banded 10/10 Thanks

Hi Joy

Yes its possible to eat out... I actually ate out on mushies. LOL Most places have a chicken breast they can grill you. You may ask for a child size meal if they will do that... I do it all the time. Maybe get they veggies and mashed potato on the side. When your food arrives... ask for a small plate and cut the portion down to 3-4 oz meat, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch. Dont push it...eat what you can and the rest you can take home for tomorrow.

Usually depending who I am with we just share a meal. Most places around here will not let you order off the kid menu unless you are 12 or under. Some places serve half order appetizers also. The half orders is plenty.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
