moving on. Gotta eat right the rest of the day. Same old desires / habits creep back!

What do they say... One day at a time.

Happy Friday everyone!

my daughter was great she took hers to school but i managed to find a couple and of course just so they wouldn't be in the house I ate them but . like you I tracked them I think that is the important part. We can have everything if we track them and get all our 'must' in for the day as well. every meal is a restart.....line dancer

I'm still pre-op and had too much Halloween candy until I sent it all away! As hard as it was to see it in black and white (and for others to see...my logs are public!), I did log it on MFP. Good for you for logging it and good for you for admitting it to us here, as well. Like line dancer said, we can have everything (ie: no food is off limits...unless it's a "stuck" food!), it just has to be accounted for. And each meal is a restart. I don't plan to live the rest of my life without a piece of candy, a serving of ice cream, or a french fry. At this point in my journey, I don't think there is any food that I will never eat again (unless it makes me sick or gets stuck). What I do plan on, though, is turning those foods into "very rarely eaten foods" and making lifestyle changes and choices that help me to be healthier.

I agree. My goal is peace without sacrifice. I am changing my eating habits but don't plan to have any "off-limits" foods (unless my band prohibits). I want to ditch the idea of "cheating" and learn to live my life. As in all of life, I do good most of the time and occasionally have a bad day. I'm reading "eat what you love, love what you eat" and I'm trying to change the way I think about food. Of course, I'm using a therapist to help me, but I finally have a vision of "success".

Here's to all of our success!

Wendy you are right old habits are hard to break but each day it gets easier and easier. I agree with all these posts, no more dieting, no food is off limits, it's all about healthy eating and accounting for that treat or that extra bit if food or that slice of cake or that glass of wine or cocktail....

We need to develop a healthy relationship with food and become more active and not obsess over something we shouldn't have eaten. Count it in your daily calorie or portion intake, do a bit of extra exercise, enjoy what you eat.

Last weekend I made chocolate chip banana muffins for the kids and I knew I would have eaten them too so what I did is I made them normal size and I made two tiny ones in those tiny little cupcakes and had one one day and one a few days later. It was just the right amount to enjoy with a cup of tea and enough to satisfy my palate.

I really am enjoying this new healthy way of eating and enjoying the odd treat with no tummy pains or bloating from overeating.

In the end if we don't account for things we are only lying to ourselves that's one thing I no longer do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
